Woodland School - Outdoor Learning at Chalk Ridge Primary School
In September 2019 we introduced our Woodland School Outdoor Learning project.
Every child in Year R and KS1 will have a Woodland School outdoor learning activity each week for half a term, three times a year. The learning sessions will all be based outside in our newly developing area, which has a base camp, bird hide, bug hotels and much more. The children are allowed to wear their own outdoor clothes, wellington boots and waterproofs and we will go outside whatever the weather!
The aim for each session is to build confidence, self esteem, team building skills and a love of learning. This positive attitude to outdoor learning can then hopefully be applied to learning back in the classroom. In the next year or so, it is our intention to roll this project out to children in the Juniors too.
